Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.

Bought this Strimmer to replace a similar corded model. The offer from Tooled Up included two batteries, just needed to install the second battery almost at the end of strimming both gardens. Delighted with the product and follow up service (a missing part in the box was chased up by Tooled Up which I received two days later).

Q : I’ve just purchased a Black and Decker strimmer ST1823 and I need a battery and charger because apparently it doesn’t come with them Can you tell me how much they would be including postage to Loughton please
A : Good afternoon, Please do have a look at the Power 4 all batteries as these would be suitable for your item. Delivery charges can be calculated further down the page, just click what are the delivery costs for this item. Then your postcode and the website will tell you the cost.
Q : I have tried two separate new Lithium 1.5Ah 18V batteries with this charger and the red light keeps flashing and the batteries do not charge. I expected the light to stop flashing and turn green, but it does not. What should the different lights indicate and what is the sequence ? Does there appear to be a fault with the charger?
A : Going by the pictogram on the charger itself, a flashing red light indicates that the charger has detected either a faulty battery, or one that is too hot to be recharged. Assuming that you are trying to recharge genuine Black & Decker 18v lithium ion batteries (the 1.5ah ones should be the BL1518) and they have cooled down sufficiently after being used, this would appear to indicate that the charger is faulty. Alternatively the batteries could indeed be damaged or faulty, but it seems the less likely scenario if the same issue is happening with both of them.
Q : Does this charger work with the cordless Alligator Lopper GKC1000 (now discontinued) please
A : Hi Mary, it is compatible with the batteries from the current model of the GKC1000 which still appears to be available - however, there was a previous variant which is now discontinued which I think was called the GKC1000P? In any case, the important thing to check is the battery itself - this charger is suitable for Black & Decker 18v lithium ion batteries only (they may also say li-ion or simply "lithium" on them) - the GKC1000P was not a lithium ion machine, and ran on NiCAD batteries, so you wouldn't be able to charge them in this charger. Anything that says NICAD or NIMH or similar won't be suitable and would need a different type of charger (which may be quite hard to find nowadays unfortunately)
Q : Would this work on the BCD700s?
A : Hi Jack, yes - this is a suitable replacement battery charger for the Black & Decker BCD700S 18v cordless combi drill
Q : Would this charger work with a BL1518 battery
A : Hi Harry, yes this is a suitable replacement charger for the Black & Decker BL1518 18v 1.5ah battery
Q : What is the difference between this charger and the BDC1A 18v lo ion charger ?
A : The BDC1A is a 1amp charger and will charge a 2amp battery in 2 hours. whereas this is a 0.4amp charger and will charge a 2amp battery in about 5 hours
