Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Bosch PowerForAll
The Bosch PowerForAll Tool range is a range of tools you can buy knowing that batteries are compatible with all tools in the range providing they are of the same voltage. eg 18v fits 18v, 12v (10.8v) fits 12v (10.8v) etc. Please also note that 10.8v is compatible with 12v & vice versa as it is just a name change. Indego Lawnmowers also use the PowerForAll 18v battery but require a cover plate to be removed if changing.
PowerForAll has many advantages not least the fact that once you have a tool with a few batteries then there is no need to buy the more expensive versions with battery & charger, you can just go ahead & buy the much cheaper no battery versions!
So remember PowerForAll signifies complete battery compatibility throughout the range. There is however, one caveat to this, some of the very first older chargers will not charge the very latest batteries & a battery charger upgrade will be required if you have a first generation charger. All batteries fit all tools however.
As of 2021 Bosch has licensed PowerForAll to other manufacturers whereby batteries between these manufacturers will be interchangeable.
Important
You cannot use Bosch Pro (Blue) batteries in either 12v or 18v DIY (Green) products.

This purchase of a battery charger was to support a Bosch power tool battery. Whilst the batteries are suitable for many products, they are charged with many different chargers . Each with different charging connections. The product from Tooled-Up was fit for purpose and performed extremely well. I am very pleased with this purchase, representing excellent value for money, and I would strongly recommend Tooled-Up as a source of supply.

It is not the fastest charger can be found. But for half the price of a 6A charger, it is good enough for charging a 6ah Bosch battery.

I've had a Bosch PSB 18 LI-2 drill for about ten years now. Recently one of the tabs on the charger broke leaving me unable to charge the battery. I discovered that the original charger (AL 2215 CV) is no longer available and wasn't sure if there is an alternative. Then I came across Tooled-Up.com which advised that the Bosch AL 1830 CV charger is a suitable replacement. I went ahead and purchased one (at a very reasonable price) and am very pleased to report that it works perfectly with my original battery. It also charges the battery in half the time as it has a 3 amp charge current.

I had been looking for a second-hand battery charger but saw this brand-new one from Tooled-Up for even less than the used ones and jumped at the chance to buy new at such a good price, even though I was a little worried that this could be too good to be true. Nevertheless, the battery arrived the very next day with free postage and I couldn’t be more pleased with it. Highly recommended product and company. Very happy customer. Thank you!

The charger performs well but difficult to say whether better than any other charger. I survived being dropped over the gate by the delivery driver, so seems to be well constructed. Easy to fit the battery into charging psition.

Q : I plan to buy a Bosch 18v universal sander; a) does the Bosch Genuine AL 1830 CV 18v Cordless Li-ion 3A Fast Battery Charger include batteries or b) do I need to buy batteries separately? If yes to the latter, is there an inexpensive charger starter pack which includes the batteries which is compatible with the sander? Many thanks
A : Hi there, this particular charger doesn't come with any batteries but there are a number of battery and charger starter kits available, for example if you filter by Sub Brand "Power4All" in the battery chargers category on our website you should see them all. You might find that you'll save more money by buying the sander as a complete kit with these included (rather than buying them separately) but it depends what's available
Q : HI there I have a PSB 1800 li-2 Drill and unfortunately the charger stopped charging. Is this the correct charger for the above drill machine? I ask because the docket position of the battery seems to be different to the one that which came with the drill machine. Waiting for your reply soon.
A : Hi there, this subject is covered briefly in the "Bosch PowerForAll" text in the blue box on the product page, as well as a couple of previous questions regarding this drill. The PSB 1800 Li-2 has been in production for a number of years now and often comes with one of the first generation chargers. These first generation chargers don't work with some of the later batteries but the newer chargers are backwards compatible. As long as your drill is the version we stock on product ID 20997915K then the AL 1830 CV is suitable (in fact you'll notice from the product images that we sell it with this exact charger included)

A : Hi Noeline, yes I can confirm this is a suitable replacement battery charger for the Bosch ALB 18LI leaf blower and will be suitable for all current Bosch Power4All batteries
Q : Good Morning, I have a PSB1800 LI-2 with two batteries and an AL 2215 CV charger. I want to buy a PKS 18 LI saw. Will the old batteries work on the saw? Thanks
A : Hi Art, yes the PSB1800 LI-2 is part of the 18v Power4All range so the batteries you have are compatible with the PKS 18 LI and in fact could be used with any of the tools listed in our Bosch Power4All tools range page. The only thing to bear in mind is that your charger is an older type which won't be able to charge the bigger batteries that have come out since if you ever wanted to upgrade (for example the 4ah batteries won't fit onto it)

Q : I recently bought a Bosch universal chain 18 from you having researched the current tools namely hedge cutter, lawnmower and leaf blower battery would fit. Disappointingly the batteries do not fit. I am now required to spend more money on a different charger and battery. Is this charger suitable for the chainsaw purchased from you and what is the biggest battery I can buy?
A : Hi Debbie, I don't know what tools you already own but I am guessing from the information provided they are in the Bosch 36v range? The UniversalChain 18 is compatible with a wide range of other power tools but only on the Power4All 18v platform, which uses a smaller battery. This charger is compatible with those batteries, yes, and currently the largest Power4all battery available is the 6ah model we stock on product ID 21022043. A : Hi Amit, no I'm afraid it's not - the machine you have is part of the Bosch Professional (Blue) range, and the batteries aren't compatible with this charger at all. You would need a Bosch Professional 18v battery charger such as the GAL 18V40 on product ID 21028574

A : Hi, no I'm afraid the batteries and chargers from the Bosch Green (DIY/Garden) and Blue (Professional) ranges are not interchangeable.
