Petrol Engines

It is important to read all instructions regarding petrol products. 4 Stroke engines require oil and some machines are supplied dry (No oil to start with). Running a 4 stroke petrol machine without oil will result in the engine seizing and is not covered under warranty.

2 Stroke engines will need to have a mix of oil in the petrol this is normally 1 part oil to 50 parts petrol but not always, again please read the instructions supplied with your machine. Petrol engines do require more maintenance than electric engines but if reguarly maintained they will normally give many years of use.

There are three main types of leaf blowers – Petrol, corded electric and cordless electric. As a general rule, Petrol blowers offer the most power at the expense of being heavier and noisier and than their electric counterparts, and typically come at a higher price.

Electric blowers are much quieter and more suitable for residential areas, and are usually powered by either lithium ion battery packs, or mains electricity.

Corded variants are cheaper to manufacture as they don’t require batteries or chargers, though their obvious limitation is the length of cord they are attached to.

Cordless variants offer much more freedom, though the amount of time they can be used for is dependent on the charge in their batteries. Higher amp-hour (ah) batteries will offer the most runtime, while higher voltage machines will provide more power.

Leaf blowers can also be effective at clearing snow, dust and dirt; however please bear in mind they are not designed to shift piles of wet leaves and much better results can be obtained by waiting for these to dry out first.

Customer Questions & Answers

Ken asked on 02/03/2021

Q : Hi Mike. I have a large lawn with evergreen holme oak trees on its circumference. They drop catkins, leaves in May and small acorns. I have a push lawn sweeper that is very good but hard work. I have tried an Alco lawn vacuum but it leaves many of the small leaves embedded in the lawn. Is there a petrol lawn sweeper I can buy to match my push one? Would the brush attachment on the the Webb lawn vacuum damage my lawn?

Can you answer this question? Yes I can

Q : HOW DOES THIS MACHINE COPE WITH SMALL FIR CONES AND PINE NEEDLES?

TooledUp answered on 06/01/2021

A : Hi Mike, I asked Webb if they had any information on this and they have said "Yes I would say this machine would be suitable, there is a brush attachment that can be fitted to the machine if the customer wishes to “sweep” a hard standing area such as path, patio or parking space etc. It operates very much like a domestic household vacuum. So as long as the debris does not block the tube you will be OK. For the uses you suggest, it should be fine. It may need a few passes to pick up the majority of things like pine needles."
