Domestic garden shredders maximum shredding diameter is based on shredding green waste and not hard branches. Please note that brown waste (branches /twigs) reduce the maximum diameter the shredder is capable of. As a rule half the size of the maximum diameter for a guide to maximum brown waste (branches /twigs) the shredder will be capable of. Also note that shredder performance if affected by how much moisture is in waste being shredded. You must not attempt to shred wet waste in electric shredders.

Easy to assemble & use. Quiet & a decent lead length. I read minor negative comments saying it 'hard to assemble', 'surprised it didn't include a screwdriver in the pack' & the collector box was hard to use. If you're that stupid you shouldn't be trusted with any power tool!

Strongly built garden shredder but not good for light waste such as prunings. Larger branches were happily munched into smaller chunks but too large for mulching

Good machine, pretty robust and quite heavy to lift if you have to. Easy enough to roll around on the wheels provided though. The blade cuts well enough up to the specified maximum size capacity but seems to need regular adjustment to keep it cutting cleanly. All in all very happy with it, it makes short work of a pile of hedge cuttings or trimmings and cuts them to an ideal size for composting or mulching. Not had it long enough to establish reliability but Makita is generally a good brand.

Very pleased with prompt delivery. Had trouble putting it together as could not move catch to slide collector out to get at motor. Catch for removing collector is very stiff and a fiddle to fix and release, hopefully will ease off with use. Machine does a good job but chippings build up and stick under blades if damp.

Q : Hi, I would like to buy a Garden Shredder and my main usage would be to shred dried leaves. We have a compost system at home and after emptying the daily kitchen waste we put a layer of shredded lawn grass on it which we store in bags. Since our garden is big we have a lot of dried leaves and these we need to shred and use intermittently with the shredded grass. We will not be shredding wood and we require a suitable product for this. We prefer electrical ones. Thanks
A : Hi Felician, all of the garden shredders we stock currently are primarily designed for branches and more substantial material - it sounds like you would be better off looking for a dedicated leaf shredder which is purpose designed for leaves. Alternatively you could look at leaf vacuums (often these are blowers as well) which will typically shred the leaves before depositing them in a collection bag.
Q : What length is the power cable supplied
