Customer Questions & Answers

John Hawkins asked on 07/09/2020

Q : reading on plaster setting is 0.5 max thru out room what does this mean as 16% damp value is ok for normal house according to surveyers

TooledUp answered on 09/09/2020

A : Assuming the tool is giving an accurate readout this would imply up to 0.5% moisture content, though when it comes to attributing meaning to this result your surveyor will know a lot more than me! I will say that if you suspect this may not be accurate I would strongly advise getting a second opinion as the types of damp meters typically available in this price bracket are by no means infallible in my experience.

Paul Robbins asked on 28/01/2020

Q : What percentage does concrete have to be to be able to paint? My meter is reading OL?

TooledUp answered on 28/01/2020

A : This may vary according to the product you are applying to it (for example some primers are specifically designed for damp concrete) but unfortunately a reading of OL makes it impossible to ascertain exactly how damp the wall is as it is outside the measurement range

Ian asked on 08/09/2019

Q : The meter is saying ol in brick concrete mode does this mean there is damp in wall.

TooledUp answered on 19/09/2019

A : Hi Ian, the manual is a bit ambiguous as it says a reading of OL means "Out of range for this meter" - so whether this means the reading is outside its scope of measurement, or it can't read anything at all, I wouldn't like to say (although it looks like we were previously advised the former) - I would advise calling Draper's customer service department if possible? on 02380494344

Gillian friedli asked on 24/03/2018

Q : What does the reading OL signify?

TooledUp answered on 26/03/2018

A : I can confirm that if you are receiving a reading of OL, then the reading is over the limits that the detector can detect. (Over 40% moisture reading in wood and over 2.0% in material)
