Swanson Speed Squares

Swanson The original Swanson Speed Square was invented in the 1920s by a carpenter called Albert Swanson. As word spread about the ingenuity of his design, he began making them by hand for other carpenters who wanted one, until eventually demand was so great that the Swanson Tool Company was established in order to manufacture and distribute them. Swanson Speed Squares are made in the USA, at the company headquarters in Illinois, and have not always been readily available in the UK. However, Tooled Up are pleased to say that we are now able to supply this range which is available for sale through our website or to purchase in store at our Enfield branch.

About The Products

The Speed Square packs several essential functions into one tool. It provides 90° and 45° straight edges which are ideal for marking out and for use as a saw guide. It has a protractor for working out angles, rulers for measuring length, scribe lines for marking along the length of a workpiece, and a roofing function for calculating rise in rafters. Speed Squares proved to be hugely succesful with professional carpenters as the smaller models will fit easily into a tool pouch, enabling a wide range of measuring and marking jobs to be undertaken with a single, lightweight tool. However, over the years they have become just as popular with DIYers too, and for many users the Speed Square is one of the top ten tool box essentials. Swanson Speed Squares
