Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
Bosch PowerForAll
The Bosch PowerForAll Tool range is a range of tools you can buy knowing that batteries are compatible with all tools in the range providing they are of the same voltage. eg 18v fits 18v, 12v (10.8v) fits 12v (10.8v) etc. Please also note that 10.8v is compatible with 12v & vice versa as it is just a name change. Indego Lawnmowers also use the PowerForAll 18v battery but require a cover plate to be removed if changing.
PowerForAll has many advantages not least the fact that once you have a tool with a few batteries then there is no need to buy the more expensive versions with battery & charger, you can just go ahead & buy the much cheaper no battery versions!
So remember PowerForAll signifies complete battery compatibility throughout the range. There is however, one caveat to this, some of the very first older chargers will not charge the very latest batteries & a battery charger upgrade will be required if you have a first generation charger. All batteries fit all tools however.
As of 2021 Bosch has licensed PowerForAll to other manufacturers whereby batteries between these manufacturers will be interchangeable.
Important
You cannot use Bosch Pro (Blue) batteries in either 12v or 18v DIY (Green) products.

This battery is massive. I already had some smaller ones but decided for the big bosch hedge trimmer I bought at the same time,a bigger battery would be useful so as to do all my trimming in one go. I was surprised how long this battery lasted. I did all my hedges and a couple of large bushes and barely used one pip, suggesting this battery could power the trimmer for many hours of use. Plus as it is the "one for all" standard it will also work in my other tools and fit in my existing chargers, allowing me to save by buying the trimmer without a charger (and helping to pay for this mega battery!)

very pleased with this battery....was using 2Ah battery before & charging so often was a pain. Now I can get through a lot of work uninterrupted. Its a robust build being a Bosch product & performance is top notch.

Q : Hi Please can you advise what the difference is between Bosch W-C and Bosch W-B batteries is? Many thanks
A : Hi Andy, I think these model numbers just relate to when they were introduced and in most cases they are completely interchangeable throughout the range but there are a couple of things to bear in mind - these later revisions (both the 2.5ah W-B and the 4ah / 6ah W-C batteries) are not suitable for the older AL 2215 C charger, and the last two W-C versions can't be used with the PSM 18 LI cordless delta sander as they are too big to fit into it. Apart from that they can be used with any tool in the Power4All 18v range
Q : Hi. I have a GSB 18-2-LI Plus, with GBA 18V batteries and AL 1820 CV charger. Are the new Power4all batteries compatible with this drill and charger?
A : Hi Jason, it sounds like you have a Bosch Professional (Blue) machine- please note these batteries are for the Green (DIY/Garden) cordless tools only, and cannot be used with Bosch professional tools.
Q : Will the AL1815CV charger be compatible with this battery? out of interest will the 6ah battery fit as well?
A : Yes, that charger is suitable for all current Power4All Bosch 18v batteries. In fact in Germany Bosch sell the AL1815CV as a starter set with a 4.0ah battery. There is an older style of charger which has a curved design and these can't charge the larger batteries
Q : I have a Bosch charger to charge my circular saw. Model no on the base of the charger is AL 2215 CV. My question is would this charger be suitable for the Bosch 4Ah battery. Circular Saw Model PKS 18 LI Kind Regards James
A : The AL 2215 CV is only suitable for 2.0ah and below batteries as they have to change connections on the bottom. The charger you require is AL 1830 CV this will charge all 18V Power4All batteries from 1.5ah - 5ah
