Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.

My previous rechargeable battery failed which meant I had to source a replacement. I found one at Tooled-Up at a reasonable price. Item was delivered quickly and efficiently. However, I am a bit concerned about the apparent longevity of Black and Decker products.

I fitted the battery to my new cordless sander after charging, and l completed the job described previously, without having to change the battery. Plenty of power, can't fault the product.

A : Hi Martin, I'm not familiar with the machine you mention but although the specifications of the battery are the same it appears to be a different design in several aspects and I'd be surprised if this battery will be suitable. Your best bet is probably to try contacting Black & Decker as they may still be able to supply a replacement battery as a spare part.

A : Good morning, usually if your drill is an 18v drill then an 18v battery would be fine, but this also depends on the age of your drill. It would be best to double check with Black and Decker directly.

Q : Do you know if this is the right battery for the black and decker BHFEV182C-GB Cordless Vacuum Cleaner?
A : Hi Nick, it will work with the BHFEV182C-GB yes. It has a slightly smaller capacity than the stock battery supplied with that vacuum but all this means is that it won't run for as long before it needs recharging. For reference we do stock the 2ah battery (which is what Black & Decker package it with) on product ID 20997043.

A : Hi Paul, as far as I can tell the battery you have is one of the older types (either a NiCAD or NiMH?) and unfortunately the current Black & Decker 18v (Lithium) batteries and chargers aren't suitable for these tools. If you make enquiries with Black & Decker through the service section of their UK website they may still be able to supply the parts you need as spares.

A : Hi Liam, assuming it is a Black & Decker 18v lithium ion battery (the same as the one pictured here) you should be able to recharge it using any of the Black & Decker 18v battery chargers listed in our Black & Decker 18v System tools range page. For example the BDC1A charger we list on product ID 20997018 would be suitable

A : Hi Ian, yes I can confirm this battery is suitable for the Black & Decker BDHD18

A : Hi Marlon, no - unless they made more than one machine with that model number all the evidence I can find suggests that it used a NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) battery. Power tool manufacturers have all switched over to Li-ion these days and these older types of batteries are now much harder to get hold of.
Q : Will this battery fit a Ferrex model CDT118T cordless multi-head drill, equivalent to the existing battery ABP1815HT 1.5Ah Li Ion
A : Hi Brian, as far as I know Ferrex are an exclusive brand to Aldi supermarkets and won't share battery compatibility with other manufacturers. In fact although this situation appears to be changing and there has been a bit of a shift towards more universal battery platforms recently, in general power tool batteries cannot be used across different brands and are only designed to work in that manufacturer's machines, even though the specifications may be identical (18v, 1.5ah etc)
